GENERAL INFORMATION

The Safety Zone program operates as a
St. Agatha School community service, offering parents on-site quality child care. Care is available for children in Pre- Kindergarten through 6th grade* on all school days (according to the St. Agatha School calendar), from 6:00am until 7:45am and from 3:15pm until 6:00pm on regular school days.  On early dismissal days, care is available from the time school is dismissed until 6:00pm.

Accommodations are in the rectory basement.  The daily routine includes a snack and drink, outdoor and indoor play, games, art and craft activities, and quiet homework time.

During morning care, children may bring breakfast items from home that need minimal assistance to serve.  Time is spent on homework and quiet activities.

*St. Agatha School Pre-K(4) students are permitted to attend.

Tax information will be provided.

TRANSPORTATION

Students who attend New Athens Elementary School during the day may catch a bus from The Safety Zone to New Athens Elementary School in the morning and return to The Safety Zone after school on that same bus.

Upon enrollment, students will be informed and receive a written copy of The Safety Zone rules and discipline policy.   Parents should review these rules with their child(ren).  Parental support is very important and necessary for the success of this program.  Emphasis is given to the positive qualities, behaviors, and actions of students.

Students are to be escorted to The Safety Zone by their parent/guardian and signed in.  After school, they are to report to TSZ
immediately upon dismissal from school or coming off the bus.  If a child is to be late, staff must be notified.  Belongings are to be put in designated areas.  NO TOYS FROM HOME, PLEASE!  Child must always notify staff prior to leaving TSZ for any reason.

Students must be signed out and escorted from The Safety Zone daily.
